1) FAA Certification: If your drone is over .55 pounds and less 55 pounds, you need to be registered with the FAA. For hobyist, this is a simple form to fill out and a $5 charge. With your certification you will need to mark your drone with your FAA “UAS CERTIFICATION MARK”. This can be placed anywhere on the drones permanent structure.
The Ontario Police Department have purchased a military spec drone that cost $100,000 and is named Aeryon SkyRanger. The drone has a top speed of 31MPH and can fly in wind gusts of 55MPH. This Unmanned Aerial System can withstand rain and snow, which is part of the reason the drone is so expensive.
